3 Design Ideas to Spruce Up Your Home

Choosing the perfect design for a renovation or an altogether new house can be a daunting task. With all the options available these days, a new house owner can easily get confused. So to guide you with some ideas, we feature three chic, functional ideal designs that will definitely spruce up your home.

Overstuffed or Oversized Furniture
Have you  wondered why hotels have this elegant look in them? One of the factors that achieve this image are the oversize furnishings that hotel lobbies and rooms employ. If your house is big and you want to accentuate its size, then go for oversize chairs and tables. Tall padded headboards for your bed will also add interest in your bedroom and comfort will be optimized. There is a general feeling of comfort with the idea of BIG, after all.

Furniture with Double Purpose
For those who have limited space on the other hand, you can opt for furnishings (and even appliances) that provides multifunctions. A double bed for instance, will be ideal on your guestroom. A hinged bench can double as a seating furniture and extra storage at the same time. There's also a unique dining table that can be folded to form a smaller coffee table, which responds to your specific requirement at a time. In fact, there are tons of multifunctional furniture creations out there, all you need is a little creativity to get the best out of them.

White It All
Those who favor the contemporary look may utilize various shades of white to provide in-depth shades as they please. Mixing and matching off-white vases with pure white tables is a good example. White also means being able to use various accent colors that may be changed with each season.

There you go, three simple design ideas that can make your home look fresh and lovely without sacrificing comfort.

Sketchup: A 3D Modeling Program

With its aim to blend the work of artist and homeowner, this is an awesome tool that anybody can utilize as long as they are interested. What exactly is it? Put simply, Sketchup is a modeling program in 3D that is optimized for a wide range of applications in the fields of architecture, engineering and video game design.

What makes it more attractive compared to other 3D programs is its ease of use that even non-designers can create a building or home design on their own. It has a repository of model assemblies such as doors, automobiles, entourage, windows and many more, that can be dragged and dropped during the designing process. The 3D Warehouse feature easily facilitates the users to download and locate free models. Plus, it has a thriving community that aims to help each other so, sharing and collaborating on the Sketchup platform is easy.

It was formerly owned by Google which utilized its models for placement in Google Earth. But last April, it was acquired by Trimble and more developments should be expected from this. We are also going to feature more of Sketchup improvements on our future posts.

Below are sample creations from Sketchup users.

Home Renovation

Renovating a house would entail attention to details as we would not want to alter important elements of the existing design.

But depending on the preferences of the client, we will of course, keep a balance between aesthetics and functionality.
